About GibsonIt is the most well-known electric brand. Of course, with it's well-know brand, comes a high price. Used by many famous guitarist around the world, it is probably the best brand. Known for its amazing design, it is an apple to many eyes. Apart from that, it is also known for its good sound produced from the vibrating strings.
Most valued for moneyI would recommend cort. It offers a reasonable price and yet has an amazing design. Its sound quality is good too. Used by many of my friends, i have never heard a complaint from them yet. This is also my favourite brand too! At about a price between $400-$700, a valued for money guitar can be bought. Of course, there are cheaper ones.
FenderI am using a stratocaster at my music school. It is really comfortable, especially the feel of the fretboard. However, i strongly feel that Fender is overpriced and is not valued for money. However, if one really likes the feel of the guitar, go ahead and buy it. The guitars they produced are good. Good enough for some of the world famous guitarists to use. They had rather choose Fender than Gibson. But, if you are looking for design, Fender's design is not that fantastic. Frankly, most of the design looks about the same. So when you think about fender, always think about the feel of their guitars. But it is definately a no no for people looking to get a valued for money guitar.
