By the way, the top string is your thinnest, while your lowest string in a tab is the thickest. Guess I should talk about tabs later.
Other songs which are well-known include green day. You will notice that most of their songs are chords and power chords. Chords should be learnt first in my opinion. It is one of the basics. So, I would recommend starting off with chords before attempting power chords.
Class Assignment: Try finding some more chords. Then practice switching between chords. This will help you move fast when playing power chords. The basic chords which all guitarists should know are the F, G, Am, E. Chords can be easy to find, simply use a search engine, like the one in my blog or search ultimate-guitar.com for it.
